Look Back
i dunno if I could properly explain how much this movie made me feel, cause honestly it kinda means everything to me. a beautifully crafted adaptation to a beautifully written oneshot tributing one of the most beautiful anime studios in history, kyoani. I remember crying a lot hearing the news, and later on crying to the oneshot that released 2 years after it. tatsuki fujimoto’s writing has a beautiful way of getting to the heart, and kiyotaka oshiyama was able to enhance that feeling onto the big screen. I’m so happy that more and more people will get to experience this powerful story.
from the rough animation to every line and dot in the background and the facial expressions to the harmonious music to the realistic acting, you can feel the love, passion, guilt, sadness, the will to keep going, the will to connect with others, the will to keep doing what you love, from every single frame and note of this movie. it’s a love letter to art, to its process, and to the people who keep smashing lines on a piece of paper despite how much the world fucks us over. no matter what, we must always keep going.
“then why do you draw, fujino?”
