if i had a nickel for every time i accidentally put on a movie where necrophilia was involved i would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but weird it happened twice right? and who’s bright idea was it to have little amber heard play a stripper when she was 18-19? had to watch this to finish off her discography, and ended up really enjoying this film, but she’s literally my age here and i feel bad she was so overly sexualized. (also if you’re wondering what the other movie was, it’s ‘elvis & annabelle’ from 2007, way less explicit but it’s still there.)

she changed herself to be *a* prom queen but not to become prom queen herself; she isnt really her, Jo won, so Joan never actually won :( i loved this and thought it was so cool. *the substance *is one of my favorite films, so this reminded me of it. the set design is incredible, and extremely well thought out. for example, the collage in Joan’s room looks normal at first, just a bunch of cut outs of fashion and makeup icons, but they are all white, showcasing Joan’s desire to look like them. Again, Olivia’s house decorated with nothing but the color white and beige, and her dad sipping on plain milk is no coincidence. It showcases the plainness in their new lifestyle, the unoriginality, and the lack of culture, unlike Joans house, because her parents are proud of who they are.
