Normal People
the last scene is so important to me
i don’t think they were toxic at all. it’s very sad but also a beautiful story, they had this type of connection that you will never have with someone else again. at the start they were both so young, they’ve made mistakes and it’s normal and very human. their relationship looks like that because they met at a very young age, experienced and went through many things together, but they have always been there for each other, cared for each other even if there was no, or minimal contact. this is the type of relationship that makes you find out what is real love, the type of relationship that you will never forget. starting from that they’ve met at very tough time for both of them, while they were still in school and had some individual problems, they might appear a bit toxic and less easy to understand for people who never experienced a connection like theirs, their breaks were caused by plenty misunderstandings in their relationship because they were too young to act right. what makes their bond so beautiful is that they’ve always cared for each other what is shown in later episodes where they take care for each other while being in bad relationships with other people, still having contact even if it was hard for them, still involving each other platonically as a friends in important events such as graduations, or some vacations. i think they were really good for each other as they were older and more mature. the end is so beautiful and yet so tragic. they’ve finally understood what they brought to each other’s lives, so many good things and personal developments. they definitely wouldn’t be the same people without knowing each other for so long. it is beautiful that they’ve managed to leave and still love each other as they finally get to understand what they have. this was their final act of maturity and love. despite their story, everybody’s acting was amazing and so well portrayed, especially connel’s depression. it was very pleasant to watch because it felt so real. also, beautiful cinematography.
