Vincent
“His voice was soft and very slow, as he quoted the raven from Edgar Allan Poe; ‘And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor, shall be lifted,
Nevermore.’ “
I’m absolutely speechless. I’m having trouble contemplating how a six minute film just beat most of two hour films I’ve watched. Jesus Christ, no wonder this is his most highly rated film on here. I will never get bored of Burton’s absolute obsession with Poe. You’ll see it a lot in Wednesday as well, literally everywhere and I adore it entirely. Fact is Burton is my Poe. I love everything about his directing and drawing and designing-I am eternally fascinated with his twisted mind. This is exactly, precisely how I dream.
Ha, thats a funny coincidence; “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”
And the narration, especially the ending, by Vincent Pierce-just chills. Goosebumps everywhere. This man deserves everything he gets in life. Simply art at its finest. Did you know that Vincent was consigned to the Disney vaults and never rereleased because it was considered too scary and pessimistic for their audience? And even more, Vincent was the first stop-motion short movie by the same director to combine 2D and 3D animation. The beginning of a technique that would find fortune later with other Burton movies. Dare I say more?
