Prisoners

there’s really no other film like this masterpiece. it’s such a random mix of things put into one movie but it works way too well. i was starting to doubt my past five star rating of this film but wow. i sat down and watched it all in one go, and what a ride. i watched this with my mother (who hadn’t watched it before, unlike me) and she was on the edge of her seat going crazy just as much as me. i recently finished watching true detective and wanted a similar buzz, but this was beyond what i ever thought i knew. coming out of this film on rewatch i have much more appreciation for it, some of the most beautiful cinematography i’ve ever seen, with an amazing cast with even better skill. an amazing combination of things that shouldn’t work, but do.
