Actually really great as a whole, but I need to bump it up for for the Kai episode being as good as it is, under the circumstances. Everyone was way too quick to think they scrapped the whole trans aspect of her character with that one deleted scene and general “scrubbing” - because that part of her is still here, in the final product, and the way they illustrated gender euphoria was just so beautiful. Censorship is gross, but it’s not all that powerful compared to queer kids’ ability to see themselves in characters like Kai, in spite of sneaky editing - take the Sailor Moon case for example, everybody knew what was really up between those two I’m also surprised by how much I wound up loving this. I think anything that teaches perspective and shared struggle is my shit, especially as a lesson to kids and families. AND THE SETTING OMG, I love the small town vibe. very Night-In-the-Woods-y. As said: my shit there aren’t children on Letterboxd, are there? I can say shit under kids&family media and it’s okay? Eh if you’re online, you’ve seen some shit anyway. Sorry kids.
