28 Weeks Later
A completely unpopular opinion and I won’t be hearing anyone else out: this second film was so much better than the first one. I didn’t expect much of it as it is a sequel and has an average rating, but I definitely enjoyed this way more than I wanted to. It is exactly like the first film just done way better. The camera shots in this are absolutely incredible, especially that slow shutter shots from when the infection first started. The shutter works ten times better than the low quality aesthetic that was aimed for in the first film. And the night-vision shot as well as that ending zombie shot? Incredible.
I also just love the exposition here much more, it’s so much more fun to watch the infection starting rather than watching a character wake up in a deserted city. It also has one of the best opening scenes I have seen, with that truly mortifying bloodbath at the start of a horror film. Plus, the way there are big swarms of zombies chasing makes this so much more terrifying. This leads to much more action in this film which I truly love, and the gore from the deaths are just top notch. Plot-wise, this film is also so much more meaningful and I truly loved that ending. This makes me so much more excited to watch the third and fourth films! 28 Weeks Later just succeeds in so many aspects to be a great horror film, and this will forever be an amazing zombie apocalypse movie.
Side note to self: be the helicopter guy in a zombie apocalypse
