i'm pretty mixed on this show. it definitely has the garland feel to it. philosophical, futuristic tech, slow burn and there really are some moments of greatness in this show. the final couple episodes are great, nick offermans performance along with alison pills are both phenomenal.
i think it gets a little messy with the kenton storyline along with the whole russia thing and homeless guy. it just at times did not feel as compact as i would've liked it to be.
i also thought the actor who played sergei was terrible and i really did not enjoy sonoya mizuno's performance at all, which sucks bc i think she's a good actor. i'm not sure if it was her or just poor writing for her character. i think i'm leaning towards the latter.
i feel like i tend to be mixed on garlands work (outside of ex machina, that movie is great). he's so obviously an extremely talented writer/director but at times it just feels like he gets no notes on his work from others. it does tend to create his unique style, but causes his work to suffer.
