Princess Mononoke

the nuance of human nature that exists in this film is absolutely astounding and has me continuously rewriting this review so it can attempt to convey anything of substance. this film does a perfect job of showing that humans are not the root of all evil.  it is capital greed, industrialization, and a machiavellian thirst for power that is the root of all evil. ashitaka is a perfect protagonist to explore this idea, and his relationships with san, as well as the people in the iron works shows that. i’m honestly floored by this film and i am excited to watch it again and get even more from it. maybe next time i’ll watch it in english, because apparently GILLIAN ANDERSON is the voice of moro. absolute game changer.
