julio torres, the genius that you are. this is excellent and we all knew it was going to be. i love his special, my favorite shapes, and it’s so cool to see how important that special is in understanding his point of view. i’m honestly due for a rewatch. problemista is hilarious, heartwarming, and is like nothing i’ve ever seen before. julio torres has a perspective like no one else; he’s truly a visionary. i keep getting caught on that opening shot when he arrives in new york, showing the photos of the skyline in the trash with the pink plastic castle. it immediately sets the tone of the rest of alejandro’s time in new york. i love the relationship developed between alejandro and elizabeth. julio torres and tilda swinton have chemistry like you would not believe and develop this really beautiful friendship with each other that made sob uncontrollably by the end of it. honestly, would love to see it in theaters again but it’s unfortunately playing nowhere.
