Oldboy
Holy shit I was not expecting that twist
I think this is the peak of Korean cinema. Much more brutal than I expected. The music was amazing, and I was already listening to it long before watching the film. The cinematography is great especially in the dam/elevator scene and the hallway fight scene. It has great performances all around. My favorite part about it is probably how different it is from most revenge films. Usually the hero is wronged and begins a quest to kill the villain and take revenge. Oldboy, however is much more complicated and there is no winner. The story built itself up for the twist seamlessly, and I think the ending was perfect too. Also, I've found this to be the perfect film to recommend when people ask for recommendations since it's really well written, shot, acted, composed and how it's very fluent, so it's hard to get bored, even for people that get bored easily.
