Phantom Thread
Left me completely speechless.
Perfect cinematography, perfect set design, perfect costumes, perfect lighting, perfect locations, perfect casting, perfect soundtrack.
That’s all before PTAs absolutely, heart wrenchingly beautiful story.
Real surface level stuff here, but I adore the consistent theme in many PTA films of toxic or broken people finding love and happiness in toxic/unhealthy relationships. People evolving and becoming better people together. PTA reminds us that everyone deserves love and support and kindness and an opportunity to grow and change. And that growth is good, no matter how it may be found.
Reminded me of Save Me from the final sequence in Magnolia…
If you could save me
From the ranks of the freaks
Who suspect they
could never love anyone
Except the freaks
Who suspect they
could never love anyone
