Dog Soldiers
Fast-paced/16mm blood-soaked nightmare. Those glorious film photography grains: enhancing the increasing dread during the silent hours of the night and patches of haze illuminating alongside the full moon—the camera movements and rapid editing during intensified moments via nightmarish werewolves shredding skin + multiple rounds of gunfire going off all at once in the darkness is staggering to put it mildly, to no surprise since Neil Marshall’s terrifying The Descent would recreate and further strengthen the ‘battling-terror-in-the-dark’ scenario to great extent of agonizing bleakness being included. Wells’ utter pain as he destructively tears apart the kitchen before his inevitable demise of bravery deserves five stars alone.
