“What’s going on?” “He’s flying.” Gave this a little flight rewatch. Finished the Oscars and figured why not? I didn’t understand the hate it got for best picture nom… this is the big spectacle, great visuals, etc that gets you on that list. Brad and Damson are electric together. Supporting crew was awesome. Top Gun type of “fuck yeah” movie right here. This is the “movie critics” worst nightmare. Movies like this require you to turn off the critical thinking for 2.5hrs and just enjoy a cool ass movie. Fast cars, great actors, really cool visuals and quite honestly some very slept on camera work and editing. The last race is just awesome. You start out getting the feel good with Damson showing he learned and matured. Boom, Pitt is walking back up and says “if the last thing I do is drive this car, I’m happy” man come on. The intensity is also just fuckin awesome. Lewis Hamilton is so cool, you just gotta respect him giving himself that final battle with Damson. All of that leading up to Brad Pitt locking in, cut out 95% of the sound, tossing the camera back and forth between his helmet and the road. “He’s flying” real goosebumps. Capping this off with 1. Happy ending with Brad and Kerry 2. Javier wins + the scumbag gets cooked 3. Damson says “I’m happy where I’m at” and best of all 4. Brad just Irish goodbyes a championship (being sent off by a little banter from Damson) and ends up in the Baja racing dune buggies for the love of the game. Sick ass movie. F1 x Days of Thunder sequel. Pitt and Cruise on the big screen together is a guaranteed Bagillion dollars.
