Persona
Persona is an avant garde psychological drama directed by Ingmar Bergman.
I’m shocked how ahead of its time this film is, we can clearly see a lot of its influence in modern cinema, for example in Mulholland Drive. This is how all the surreal movies should feel. Perfect mix of confusion, symbolism and horror. Beautiful black and white cinematography makes the uneasy atmosphere even better. Great performances by both Liv Ullmann and Bibi Andersson. Persona explores existential themes concerning human character and identity. Whole film is very confusing and requires a second watch.
To sum things up Persona is a perfect film about our identity. Bergman looks deep into the human psyche in this movie. A perfect revolutionary film.
