Yep, this is it. This is the one.

I think I could forgive an excruciatingly boring opening 30 minutes *or* a really stupid plot, but I can’t do both. Not even the exceptional technical filmmaking could save this one for me.

This is so solid. I wish more kids movies were this layered. Manages to be genuinely funny and heartwarming while treating its audience with respect and not shying away from the deeper or sadder moments. Also, please give me Cousin Greg in more movies.

I’ve been casually watching through De Palma’s films over the last few weeks, and I figured it was finally time to check out *Scarface*. It was pretty much exactly what I expected - a violent, gangster epic about the rise and fall of a man who bites off more than he can chew and lets his self-destructive tendencies destroy everything he’s built and everything he loves. It looks great (obviously, it’s De Palma), and Pacino is great (obviously, it’s Pacino)… but I just didn’t really like it that much. There’s nothing in here that hasn’t been done better in other movies.
