Perhaps the greatest ending to any film of all time. This movie is not your typical thriller. This far surpasses that. Michael Tolkin's script paired with Robert Altman's directorial style left this movie just dripping in both swagger and sleaze. Robbins gives an amazing performance, paired with one of the most star studded casts I've ever seen behind him. (Justice4Bonnie!) The amount of times I saw an actor I vaguely knew, or heard a reference to a film from the 1960's that is somewhere in the ever-growing jungle that is my watchlist was just mind boggling. Having worked in both development and production, this film's take on what the above the line people do on a day to day basis left me in shock. I really fucking like this movie, and I urge anyone who hasn't seen it that has a real interest in Hollywood and its expansive history to watch. It tackles the glitz and glamour of LA, along with the interwoven issues beneath the surface, as well as the feeling that many still feel today: studios aren't making good movies anymore. Maybe my mind is clouded by 5+ months of living in LA, but I genuinely think this is one of the greatest movies ever. Also: Julia Roberts as a ginger with a bob has forced me to recant every statement I've ever made. 100
