Normal People
AFTER EPISODE 5 REVIEW> A quick intro to the plot and ambience to the show was easy to see, as the first two episodes was full of not only intimacy, but frustration on the viewers end as well. Normal People is hitting home for me so far, as someone who yearns to love/be loved, as the two main characters, Marianne and Connell, portray. There is frustration on the viewers end due to Connells actions that are obvious throughout the series.
Great cinematography and soundtracks to dramatize the situation at hand, creating that tension that makes you nervous. As the episodes fly by, the plot becomes more clear, if it wasn't clear already. Since the plot stays clear, you just hope Connell makes the right decision or Marianne bites the bullet.
AFTER EPISODE 10 REVIEW> Wow. As the theme of Normal People stays stagnant, in the best way possible, the intensity becomes much stronger, especially with Marianne. She becomes a mental mess, looking for someone to treat her with value, to be loved, to feel something. By doing this, she is experiencing the lowest self value that she's ever been. On the other hand, Connell constantly thinks of Marianne, comparing every girl he is with to her. Unfortunately, with the lack of communication about his feelings, him and Marianne never seem to be on the same page, yet they yearn for each other. Seeing this unfold makes me feel so empty and heartbroken for the situation. Paul Mescal's performance has been unreal, portraying such a vulnerable and pinpointed character and it's sharp on episode 10.
AFTER FINAL EPISODE REVIEW> i cant take this. the amount of emotions stuffed into a 30 min episode each time is too much on the human heart. so much vulnerability displayed by Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal. I am left broken. please watch with precaution if you suffer with loneliness as I do... you will become emotionally vulnerable like I am right now. the soundtrack was a great compliment as well, making you fight back your tears. so many messages you can get from this show, one of them being right person, wrong time. Absolute heartbreaking when you and a partner deserve each other but it just isn't meant to be.
Normal People is going to sit with me for a while. I am hurt.
