“Let’s get some fresh air and let the music decant a little bit.” There's flashes of a meaningful movie with a strong story here, but man does it feel stiff. Respectable in places but hollow as a whole. Ayo Edebiri is fun to watch, and I look forward to seeing more films with her. (After The Hunt and Ella McCay). Really not a bad movie, and the cinematography is done quite well, it was just frustrating. 2025 Ranked

"Is it better to speak or to die." This is probably my fifth or sixth watch of this. And everytime it just rips my heart out. Visually its beautiful without ever being showy. It's warm, inviting, and feels like an endless summer. All of it feels like the world paused just long enough for somone to fall in love just to start back up again before they were ready. The performances as well are just really well done. Chalamet is a powerhouse, truly. And some of the conversations we get between Elio, Oliver, and the parents really hit hard. Really intimate and beautiful, Call Me By Your Name is one that I continue to come back to. Timothée Chalamet Ranked

"This isn't suppose to be what it's like. This isn't it. This can't be it." This is exhausting, and is a full on anxiety induced 113 minutes of chaos. Almost unbearably stressful from beginning to end. Another film that has such strong acting from the lead in Rose Bryne (between this, Sentimental Value and Hamnet, actresses are truly on an incredible run in my recent filmography). 2025 Ranked

“The rest is silence.” This is the film of the year (for now, I am very highly anticipating Marty Supreme). This film is so completely in control of it's tone, emotion, and sense of time. The way it explores and controls the silence and lets the audience digest it really makes this film feel human. Visually the storytelling and symbolism is some of the best I've seen, truly. Chloe Zhao captures what it means to be human. Jessie Buckley deserves to win best actress. The performance of the year. As much as I loved Renate Reinsve in Sentimental Value, this was just a step above. She delivers an unbeliveably raw and just simply incredible performance that you can feel in every single scene she's in. Paul Mescal definitely can't be overlooked for best supporting actor, he plays these types of roles perfectly. Even the child actors in this are phenomenal. I don't recall a time that I cried more in the theaters than I did with this. Breathtaking and devastating. 2025 Ranked
