“The rest is silence.”
This is the film of the year (for now, I am very highly anticipating Marty Supreme).
This film is so completely in control of it's tone, emotion, and sense of time. The way it explores and controls the silence and lets the audience digest it really makes this film feel human. Visually the storytelling and symbolism is some of the best I've seen, truly. Chloe Zhao captures what it means to be human.
Jessie Buckley deserves to win best actress. The performance of the year. As much as I loved Renate Reinsve in Sentimental Value, this was just a step above. She delivers an unbeliveably raw and just simply incredible performance that you can feel in every single scene she's in. Paul Mescal definitely can't be overlooked for best supporting actor, he plays these types of roles perfectly. Even the child actors in this are phenomenal.
I don't recall a time that I cried more in the theaters than I did with this. Breathtaking and devastating.
