Sicario
"You're asking me how a watch works. For now we'll just keep an eye on the time."
Can you tell im in a Villeneuve mood?
From the moment it starts, the film wraps you in a moral fog where right and wrong blur, and every choice feels heavy with consequence. It’s a dark dive into the brutal realities of the war on drugs, but it’s also a conversation on power, control, and the limits of justice.
Emily Blunt's emotional anchoring, and as she unravels along with the morals surrounding her, is heartbreaking. Benicio Del Toro emphasises this moral shift, adding layers of menace and mystery.
Villeneuve doesn't offer easy answers or neat resolutions, and instead makes the audience sit with the discomfort. In some wars, innocence is the first casualty.
The bridge sequence is one of my favorites in film, and the entire movie is more than just a thriller, its a punch in the gut.
