Conclave
I fear I’m the target audience for this moving down to casting, STANLEY TUCCI WHAT ARE YOU DOING HEREEEE GIRLIEE
This movie surprisingly served as a reminder— for the aspects of Catholicism I do appreciate and love, down to my rotten core w that GENERATIONAL Catholic guilt. There’s a beauty that I admire, indescribably, about the tradition of the Catholic Church, while also allowing the pope to serve as the (hypothetically) progressive power in the church driving the institution and its morals into the modern era. We know this doesn’t happen due to nearly 2,000 years of history, many bad popes, and the politics that exist within the church as seen in this movie, men of faith are never perfect men. They drink, they smoke, they commit sins, they have secrets, they go to confession just as anyone else would. And yet still, like most Catholics should, they hold the key principles of the faith (which is not just faith)— the propelling force to be/do good, and this naturally means different things for different people from different cultures, different backgrounds, etc. there’s nothing more I can respect than a person of faith, and their sincere commitment to said faith and its morals. It is fascinating to see in this extreme hyper modern era how the role of the pope manifests and what it means now— effectively a political leader.
pope tea is my dancing fruits tho, I was sucklin that up every minute
