Aftersun
Charlotte Wells version of humanity is sad and painful but it’s also incredibly beautiful. Aftersun might be the most human movie I’ve ever seen. When it ended I was trying to save face and not let the absolute waterfalls of tears wash over me. There’s so much I’d love to try and dissect and pick apart but at the end of the day I think this film doesn’t need that.
Aftersun is simply showing one thing, people are beautiful. Complex and flawed but so beautiful. It’s amazing that Mescal got a best actor nomination but I think it’s insane to say this shouldn’t be up for best picture.
