The Menu
So my house flooded and for obvious reasons Way of Water was not on the menu (pun slightly intended). Instead my choices were to see The Whale, which looks incredible, or to rewatch one of my favorite movies of the year. While already in a mediocre mental state The Whale seemed promising but at the end of the day a bit too bleak for my current situation. So as I sat down to watch The Menu again all the worries of life, to a certain extent, faded away. I was surprised by how much it held up but more so I really found myself connecting with the movie in a way I hadn’t before. It’s kinda cheesy, at times the tone is a mess, and it’s not even the greatest critique of the rich I’ve seen this year. All that being said, it’s message about art and what makes art meaningful hit home. In the plainest terms, this movies a good fucking cheeseburger and it’s made with love. Right now that’s all I needed.
