what a crushing portrait of love and family and loss and grief and everything in between … my chest physically hurts !!!
i love the way grief is never a single note of sorrow,, its catastrophic, it’s violent, it’s silent, it’s consuming,, buckleys entire face just becomes a landscape of loss,, u feel as if her grief is your own. and the final 15 minutes is such a cathartic outpouring of grief and acceptance accompanied by richters poignant score,, the community reaching out helping hands to share the burden just felt so incredibly human and tender.
the depth of love persisting beyond death,, and all the weight of the insurmountable grief transforming into creative and artistic expression,,, “to be or not to be, that is the question” not just a princes musings, but the words of a grieving father shouting into the abyss over the loss of his child. it’s extraordinarily beautiful to forever immortalise him in this way so people can still feel the violent rupture of his death centuries later,, but in the same way, also experience the love that is the blueprint for their grief.
i don’t think any amount of words can actually translate the ways in which i am affected by this film,, but just know i am deeply affected by this as i knew i would be
