A Clockwork Orange

“I was cured, all right” Stanley Kubrick delivers another absolute masterpiece here. A Clockwork Orange hooks you straight away with the fantastic performance from Malcom McDowell from the first second of the film we are instantly hooked on this character and we want to more about him from the iconic camera shot hooking us at the start and this performance has us there till the very end. Then the soundtrack is just perfect and an amazing blend of diegetic and non diegetic to absorb us in Alex’s frame of mindset to feel what he’s experiencing while also using it to show true fear of the psychological impact. The film deals with really heavy themes of society, morality, humanity and especially free will the film explores them so well showing how society pressures us, free will is explored strongly through the use of the governments promise and how Alex never has a choice. The film overall is really intense and disgusting at times but you can’t help but watch that screen, Kubrick delivers on every level here
