After Hours
This film is absolutely fantastic start to finish.
This film is a simple masterpiece just about a character named Paul trying to get home after stumbling into one long chaotic night.
I love how every element of this film from sound, camerawork and editing mimics Paul going crazy because he can’t get home. My favourite example of this is the clock ticks u hear throughout the film showing how intense every scene gets and the struggle the character goes through.
The acting from every character in this film is absolutely brilliant and Griffin Dunne really is the stand out his descent into this lunatic is just beautiful and it is really portrayed amazingly especially the little outbursts he has near the end of every interaction.
I love how the narrative is structured in away where the audience is always guessing and how we are slowly unraveling everything alongside the main character and there were times where i actually gasped because the reveals we had, it’s just a great way to keep the audience intrigued.
I also love how everything ties in together and how the story wraps beautifully almost like he’s stuck in a loop.
Overall this is an underrated Scorsese masterpiece I don’t hear enough talk about.
