Rear Window
This film is absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. It hooks you in straight away from the very first moment your absorbed in beautiful visuals and an amazing score it grabs your attention as you pan one by one viewing the neighbours of the apartment block and from that moment on you know your watching an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece.
This film has you focused on the intense atmosphere and your just so focused trying to solve the enigma along with the characters and it’s that question of did he do it? That keeps you hooked as the characters work together to solve it. The last 30 minutes of this movie is an absolute masterpiece of all this built up tension being released in one moment and you’re just anticipating what’s going to happen next and just how it concludes so perfectly.
What you can’t help but just applaud after this film is the beautiful camera shots all throughout and some of the techniques used, one shot that I’ve seen numerous times before is the frame within a frame shot but I genuinely believe not one director has done it as good as Hitchcock because its just used to perfection in the film and I’ll never get over it.
Another compliment I must give is to the actors because the performances here are perfection especially from James Stewart and Grace Kelly. James Stewart delivers on all aspects and it gets to the point where you genuinely believe someone’s been murdered because how good his acting is throughout, but the addition of Grace Kelly is phenomenal here because she’s genuinely perfection and it’s the chemistry with Jeff and Lisa that personally had me even more interested on what was going to happen with the relationship as the film went on and there’s a moment near the end where you notice that Jeff is deeply in love with her which was such a phenomenal scene where they lock eyes.
I think the fact that this might be my longest review yet is saying something at how good this film truly is, I should of listened to my dad years ago when he said how brilliant Hitchcock was.
