Interstellar
I’m just…ugh. I went into this movie with the expectation it wasn’t gonna be as good as I remembered, I mean I still think most of Nolan’s films are good but I’ve grown to not be as in awe of them as I once was. But this movie…it’s just incredible. Which force is stronger; the will to love or the will to survive. It’s a classic tale of man vs his own nature, man vs mann, if you will. I’ve heard people call this movie nonsensical and rubbish. But honestly, I just don’t get that. You can give me an argument for nearly any Nolan movie being rubbish but I’ll never get it for this. It’s a beautiful movie that I can’t understand hate for. Maybe I’m just soft when it comes to this stuff, I mean I cried at the finale for Lost. But it’s really rare that everything comes together for a movie like this. Acting, Visuals, plot, editing, characters, message, etc, ect. This is a beautiful movie that I will never truly get over because it’s just an utter testament to the beauty of cinema. It’s not perfect, some of the stuff is a bit nonsensical, but it’s so amazing and gutting and makes use of nearly every aspect. Interstellar is a movie about the our will to survive, and more than about how love outweighs everything. It’s on the nose but it’s amazing, and it is one of the only instances of a movie gripping me and not letting go, even on rewatch. I don’t care if it’s mainstream, it’s a masterpiece, and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.
