Transformers
After this movie I am 100% convinced that people have no real good reason to hate on Michael Bay as a director. You can say “Armageddon was shit” all you want and I haven’t seen it and I probably can’t deny that, but does that one movie really account for the other great movies Michael Bay has made? I understand not liking Pearl Harbor, it’s not for everybody and it’s definitely an acquired taste, but this? Transformers is phenomenal, and this is the movie that started the entire “Michael Bay is a bad director” craze? I’m starting to think people’s expectations is the real reason for Michael Bays downfall, especially after looking at critics thoughts after the movie released. It seems people wanted an entertaining thriller, and when they got a badass robot fuckfest that’s really good they shit on it because it wasn’t Bad Boys 2. I don’t think Michael Bay movies are for everybody, and if you don’t like him you’re not a dumbass, but when you get this preexisting notion out of your mind that Michael Bay is the guy who makes shit movies and always has a twist and you fully invest yourself in the world he creates I think you’ll find yourself enjoying a lot of the films he’s made. Transformers is easily one of my favorites by him, I think it’s message is among his best, the cast is phenomenal man. So many a listers, and some of them don’t even have more then 5 minutes of screen time. The more I think about this the more I love it, easily one of his most underrated.
