It's only politics, and what's that got to do with us?" – Sally Bowles At first I wasn’t sold on this interpretation of Sally Bowles—I’m still not sure if I am 100%—but her choices for the character makes so much sense. Alan Cumming’s Emcee is addictive and magnetic. There is a moment in the last 5 minutes where Emcee makes the audience laugh one final time, and in the same breath, when he makes his reveal, the audience turns completely silent and remain so until the lights turn off. Despite not seeing the audience, you can see their stillness and discomfort. The last scene is bold and harrowing image of the consequences of ignoring the world around us in favor of excess, entertainment, and selfish desire.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
