Leviticus
While I understand where everyone is coming from when saying this film is too short, especially taking the fact they had a time limit into consideration, I fucking love this film.
I’ve been waiting for SO long to watch it, and the day has finally come.
First of all, I’d like to compare it to The Summer Hikaru Died. If you’ve seen the anime, you’ll completely understand what I mean.
Second, the cinematography? BEAUTIFUL!!! I typically find films like these - shorter, intended for a film festival - to have great visuals.
Third, I simply can NOT get over the queer metaphors, as well as the heartbreaking quotes that aren’t metaphors, but instead genuinely talking about being queer. Naim, Ryan, get behind me😭😭😭😭 I’ll protect you😭😭😭😭😭
Fourth, I like that this is horror, but not the same as all your other horror films. All of the films are resolved by the end, but this one isn’t. We see that when Naim sees the entity again, even when around people and Ryan, but it doesn’t come for him. In fact, he barely looks bothered. I think it is a good ending as it is different from other horror films, and it could be a metaphor to how homophobia (the entity) is unfortunately always going to follow you, but you should still choose happiness (Naim picking to run away with Ryan, #queer) despite that.
Fifth, W soundtrack!! Very cool
Finally, thank you for beating the curse where one of them always dies
Naim and Ryan, you deserve sunshine. I’m glad they found it
