Come and See
Revelations 6:7-8 “And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see! And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”
Honestly, I’m not too sure how to sit here and breakdown a film like this one. There’s so much to praise about the pacing, the camera work, the ending, but it would feel contrived to talk so technically in the aftermath of the effects this movie has.
Here’s all I’ll say: It’s easily the hardest watch of any war film I’ve seen. It’s also (probably due to that fact) the most important.
Side note: not sure if watching this while in the middle of reading “Johnny got his gun” was a feat of serendipity or some kind of cosmic retribution. My mental state is 📉📉📉
