Obsession
its fucking modern art
“A love only the branch of a willow tree could conjure. Brother, you will be inside me tonight.”
i want to see more budget feature films made by college students instead of these cash-grabbing hollywood slop studios. you can definitely tell that this movie was made with passion. i do wish it was a bit gorier but the plot absolutely carries this movie. this is also more a sound-based horror which definitely gets me as the genuineness of the screams and abrupt knocks made me anxious.
navarette and johnston need to be praised, especially navarette. she perfectly executed two different personas. those brief moments where we see the real nikki try to take control were so cool.
the sarah car scene was so sad to watch. it is foreshadowed/warned when real-nikki is trying to speak to bear to just kill her but he doesnt cuz hes js so confused and then right after she kills sarah. that whole scene gaslights you into thinking that maybe there is some hope but then ur sense of hope gets her face bashed into the wheel dozens of times until the only thing u can recognize is her eye.
(that jumpscare scared the shit out of me.)
but i did actually feel sad when she died, this movie is about hopelessness.
nikki being dimly lit and u can only see her eyes when shes alone with bear was a cool detail
the ending is so tragic, fake-nikki wasted the wish so then the real nikki couldn’t make everything go back to normal. usually when a horror movie’s ending is “everyone dies” i get a bit annoyed but its done well here.
might watch more Curry Barker.
