My 200th review ✨*
Happy to have rewatched the cell this movie is beautiful to me. Psychological thriller cop mystery unfolding elements like seven mixed with psychological visuals an extreme key point in this film is water it can cleanse us, save us and even weaponize us. Every scene point is like a portrait of someone’s mind and mental states. For example, we start the movie with Edward a different client of our main character Catherine he’s in a coma in reality, in his mind is a long expanding desert 🏜️ showing a parallel to how he’s locked in his body to the boat 🚤 metaphors of it can’t be fixed because the sinister parts of his mind won’t let him. To the aftermath of her watching fantastic planet and day dreaming as the sheets turn into sand and the music that was playing in his mind art 🖼️. This in my opinion is j.los best role she’s a great actress if she was gonna be nominated for a role it should have absolutely been this! 💯 Vince Vaughn was a knockout too they worked well together in this! The slow motion visuals and design of this is next level and cements itself as a historic visual moment and movie. The horse scene is unforgettable and unique to show how the main antagonist mind dissects and emulates how he kills and sees himself and his victims and others. We see alot of sides of the same person it’s so fascinating. Down to the different looks and characteristics of his victims. To his domain of his darker self to his normal adult self and his inner child self. The main actor here is strong he embodies it perfectly you feel for him yet you’re scared of him because he can switch to being so terrifying! The bed to stomach torture scene is my favorite beautifully shot and pieced the wind to the chandeliers the hawk present and able to sense danger. There are so many interpretation and madness of the mind scenes it’s constantly evolving into a cerebral expression of horror and thriller. I really wish they pushed further and made another film with the technology I would have love to seen more. Standalone regardless this is a great film. It’s a unique style and exploration experience. Underrated cerebral horror, a top 4 favorite 😍 for me for lifetimes to come!
