And what if I said this was an instant top 5 Pixar for me?
I love love love this. Pixar, and honestly even Disney, has been in such a slump lately and hasn’t made anything that has interested me, was made of real substance, or really had characters that made me feel something. This feels so classic Pixar and really harkens to a time where they could fit together an incredible story, phenomenal world building, and could build genuine relationships between their characters.
The setting is stunning, obsessed with the character animation, the comedy fucking hits, each character fits so well, the story progresses naturally, and overall it’s just enjoyable, which I can’t say about a lot of recent Pixar films. It’s so rewatchable and that’s what makes it great. I know a lot of people feel that way about Turning Red, but the reality is, that film puts too much pressure on the emotions of the characters being the story, rather than pushing it forward. That’s where this succeeds.
I cannot wait to come back to this, I need representation in Animal Kingdom stat, and I think this will become a modern classic
