‘that’s why we came back home; figured we’d deal with the devil we know.’ 🩸 ugh, vampire lore means sooo much to me when it’s done well, and i haven’t felt this passionately about a vampirical execution since i first discovered buffy the vampire slayer at eight years old. then you throw in southern gothic horror, religious undertones, AND good music?: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!! this was just a great concept with a great delivery. placing vampires in a landscape already soaked with blood? white supremacy feeding off black culture (literally and metaphorically) while simultaneously attempting to destroy it?? decades of black music and dance coming together seamlessly???  i can’t wait to watch this again. if you saw me leaving the theater with a tear stained face, yes you did.
