GoodFellas
Goodfellas is THE gangster film. It shows the initial pull and appeal of being a gangster, the money, the perks, and the love that comes with it and then the inevitable paranoia and downfall when they just can’t stop and go too far. It’s like an addiction for them. They get used to the money and the life and that eventually gets them killed without warning by one of their mates or they rot in prison. This film doesn’t over romanticise the life like others do. It’s realistic and that’s what I like about it. The sound track and the camera work are exceptional as well. Also the acting is top tier especially Joe Pesci fuck me he played the perfect loose cannon. That being said, while the narration does make you feel more involved, I’m not the biggest fan of narrated films if I’m being honest. It’s objectively a fantastic film but it’s not quite up there with my favourites of all time and it’s not better than the Godfather or Heat.
