Scream
Spoilers
I rewatch this movie literally all the time, but I notice something new every single time, so it’s definitely a super rewatchable movie. I don’t usually like horror, but I’m so happy that I was able to get through this movie bc now it’s one of my favorite movies of all time. The opening scene is definitely one of my favorites in movie history, but my other favorite scenes were the garage scene, the scene with Randy yelling at the tv, and the killer reveal/the whole fight that happens after that.
This movie also just has so many amazing characters. Sidney is iconic and one of the few (mostly) intelligent horror characters out there, Tatum is hilarious and a feminist icon, I loved how it was so obvious that Billy was the killer that viewers were like “no, he can’t be” and then he literally was? Stu (my favorite character) is so funny and it was lowkey scary how he was the only Scream character without a real motive other than the fact that he thinks killing is fun. (I know he says his motive was peer pressure, but I think that’s just what he was planning on telling the cops.) I also love Randy and all his rules on how to survive a slasher film, the scene when he tells people never to say “I’ll be right back,” and then Stu says that to make fun of him, only for Stu to die? Iconic. The scene where he’s yelling at the character in the movie he’s watching to turn around is also super funny considering the fact that Ghostface was literally right behind him. Gale is iconic, like she’s kind of a bad person and I hate that she never really gets a redemption arc, but I did love how funny and badass she was, and that she genuinely loved Dewey, I thought that really humanized her. I love Dewey too, it’s so funny how he starts out so low-status in the police force but then ends up becoming super well-known for how brave he is, like it’s what he deserves.
As much as I love the second, fifth, and sixth movies in the series, this is always going to be my number one and I can’t see that ever changing.
