Columbus
I think I watched this movie at the right time in my life that sense of being lost and not knowing how to move forward. All these big or little decisions that can impact your life for the good or bad. When looking for meaning and inspiration in life, I turn to film. It makes me feel whole, something I'm much passionate about. I was high as shit and just decided to put a film on I haven't seen before, and Columbus was my choice, and I'm glad it was. Kogonada is a genius and is brave to take inspiration from other filmmakers he's studied and make it his own without ripping them off.
Films like this inspire me to make my own creative stories even more when viewing life as a whole its something I find doing already, but I want to be able and see that meaning even more. Finding someone who shares the same love and passion is not something to look at lightly, but finding someone who doesn't and is willing to go on those long night walks and hear you out and understand your love and passion is something you never want to let go of.
The idea of two VERY different people both with troubles of their own meeting and forming a bond while being lost in life is something beautiful. Those differences and different ideas on life help pinpoint what needs fixing in the other person's life. There's this sense of finding comfort in each other, the thing they were missing before this encounter. Days spent with each other feel long and adventurous even though there might not be many exciting things to do around them. Living a regular life going to a boring 9-5 job is one of the many things that can make you lost in life. But when that match is found, that sense of being lost in life is gone, but that sense of being lost literally and physically wandering their environments, finding that sense of purpose is there.
You know something is good when the movie stops being a movie and makes you ask questions and ponder life; it's made with love and the profound understatement and appreciation of life. This movie gives me the answers to those questions and inspires me to find the meaning of not being lost anymore when it comes to my passion and way of life.
