shocking, sickening, heartbreaking, nauseating & so incredibly important. gaspar noé is an expert in filmmaking and specifically making films that will make you want to puke not only because of the seizure-inducing flashing lights or the constantly moving & spinning camera but also because of the heavy and in-your-face subject matter that each of his films deal with.  not many films make me want to look away or watch through my hands but this one certainly did, even through the dialogue in the second half.   monica bellucci did what no other actor i’ve ever seen could do given such a heavy part.
