F1
my most anticipated movie of this year finally came out, and i sure am glad i got to see it on the big screen right ahead (unfortunately not in IMAX, shout-out to my local cinema).
i am beyond the stars when multiple of my interests combine, and this time it was F1 and film. it feels amazing to be able to ‘judge’ from the view of an actual fan. the marketing for this movie was absolutely incredibly made, but from the amount of teasers and songs and more propaganda we have received through the internet, i built my doubts whether this was going to be actually great or just another Drive To Survive work which i seriously would have been very disappointed with.
this movie has very different vibes, and i could see that lewis hamilton’s production has done its magic. it felt incredibly real (as real as a movie like this can get) and i actually felt like i was in that garage, sharing everything that was going on with the crew.
honestly, i am very surprised - i thought the movie would not entirely focus on racing as its goal was to introduce the sport and life of F1 to the audience and make it diverse and entertaining enough. but this really felt like it was made for the fans, for the people who sit down to watch a race on a sunday and truly feel the thrill. and i really appreciated that.
at the start, it did feel a bit weird speaking of some topics like women in F1, but thankfully it elevated and turned out more or less okay. that last 20 minutes felt absolutely electric, i couldn’t even draw a breath, it magnificently executed the feeling every fan feels.
hans zimmer - do i even need to mention him? masterclass.
i went to the cinema with a company that didn’t turn out the best as i watched their attention slowly fade. they became bored and i was worried whether the non-fans would feel that way while watching. so if you’ve seen this and have no idea about F1, let me know!
overall this was amazing, not perfect, but maybe i had just set my standards too high. i was scared i would hate the movie, but that definitely did not happen. go watch this & let me know how it was for you!
