Her
⚠️long review⚠️
I’ve watched this film at 3 different points in life. Once at 15, once at 17, and now once at 21. I didn’t have the life experiences (being extremely in love and then devastatingly heartbroken) at 15 & 17 to truly appreciate this film. Now I can confidently say this is one of the best films I’ve seen. I haven’t cried so much watching a movie maybe ever. The cinematography in the transitions and lighting are insane. It’s like every frame had a purpose. Can’t say enough about the score holy shit. I cried everytime a piano started playing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a film that encapsulates love and its aftermath so well. The flashbacks used and their timing in juxtaposition to what was happening in real time was just so genius. I could quite literally write a thesis on this movie. I cannot say enough about this movie.
“Sometimes I think I’ve felt everything I’m ever gonna feel and from here on out, I’m not going to feel anything new - just lesser versions of what I’ve already felt.” what a bar (I sobbed)
“I still find myself having conversations with her in my mind.” (I sobbed again)
“The past is just a story we tell ourselves.” Past is your perspective.
“I just wanted you to know there will be a piece of you in me always, and I’m grateful for that. Whatever someone you become, and wherever you are in the world, I’m sending you love.” UGHH
“And I thought this song could be like a photo that captures us in this moment in our life together.” A movie quote has never effected me more
