PossessionLasse Jørgensen10.0· June 3, 2025FollowWhat the hell? I knew Andrzej Żuławski's way of filmmaking was crazy and disturbing, but this somehow managed to surprise me. This film was fucking crazy and wild, it felt like it possessed me (pun intended). This couple breaking up is a reflection of the real world with Andrzej Żuławski's wife leaving him, I guess this was how he experienced it. This film has some of the most impressive performances I've seen, all the loud screaming and crazy movements were just crazy, yet perfect. Isabelle Adjani was so fucking good, so was Sam Neill, but hers is a performance I never will forget just so fucking wild, it somehow reminded me of "Betty Blue" with her craziness. I couldn't care less about any accents or that, that changes nothing for me, only manages to give the film a bit more charm I most say. I feel like that's something people would critique. The monster looked so disgusting, I guess this was where all that Tentacle hentai porn got the inspiration. The Visuals are also great, with the camera almost always in movement and often shaking when it's on Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill to show the unstableness. The way Andrzej Żuławski uses blood is so unique and realistic, it's not overly used but just the right amount and the right colour, just perfection on that matter, and this also counts for "The Devil", "The Third Part of the Night" & "On The Silver Globe. The way they look into the camera makes me so uncomfortable, like Jack Torrance in "The Shining" does to give that unsettling feeling, like he knows you're there and that he is coming for you in real life. Overall this film is just what I like, complicated and deep characters, amazing performances, great writing, fucking crazy and complicated, with nice gore and blood, while still maintaining the plot and not going too off. And with the real life pain Andrzej Żuławski was going through this feels really personal, and like he was bleeding into every scene. Not just a horror film, this is psychological warfare. This is a perfect 5, 6 or 10, so perfect, nothing bad to say. Normally 5/5's goes to films that touched me, this did touch, but not only that, it tore my clothing off shook my head puked in my face and abused me with tentacles.6/6CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the appSee all Lasse's reviews for Possession (2)First watch10.0June 3, 2025Rewatch 110.0November 1, 2025
