Thor

The fall from grace and redemption to worthiness brings a much needed breath of fresh air to phase 1. Thor expands the current universe as we know it through the vibrant visuals of Asgard and contrasts those well with the simplicity of the small town setting on Earth. Special effects are obviously weaker through some parts of the film, but the grandness of what’s beyond our planet is captured really well. Chris Hemsworth brings toughness with a balance of humor to his leading role, yet it’s the supporting characters that truly shine throughout the movie. Natalie Portman owns the role of Jane Foster and we finally see a lead actress portray their character as strong and intelligent. Tom Hiddleston’s interpretation of Loki is the true driving force of the movie. He brings an emotional depth to a level even beyond Thor’s.
