Knives Out
everyone can lie. well, almost everyone. this movie was so good. i loved the casting choices, the characters, the storyline, the murder mystery, but cmon— who doesn’t love a good murder mystery here and there? it was genuinely an entertaining watch, and even if i knew who the killer was beforehand (due to spoilers and whatnot), i was still intrigued with the film as to how everything went down. the early scenes of the movie are really cool as they practically shove all of these motives into your face + they explain how the entire coverup happened, which i thought was really cool. that’s one of my favorite things about this movie too. watching all of the small details come together to make a larger scene was really cool. i honestly hated the thrombey family because they’re all selfish and greedy people who depended on harlan way too much. and the sad part is that this whole situation didn’t even teach them anything, fuck the rich people. joni, however, was my probably my favorite of them all (and ransom). she’s so funny and i loved her performative behavior- we all know you just as bad as them sis but at least she got some good lines in through it. i was losing it when she was trying to act like she was on marta’s side when the entire family was crowding around her after the will announcement, she would do anything for that check. ransom was also an enjoyable part of this movie, and not just because he’s played by chris evans (although that plays a part). he was just one of the more likable thrombeys even if he ended up trying to frame and kill marta. he had some of the best lines in the movie as well. WATCHING THE FLASHBACK SCENE OF HIM COMPLETING THE STEPS TO FRAME MARTA, it was so cool. there was honestly so much in this movie that hinted at him being the killer, but you wouldn’t necessarily notice that until after the reveal. i don’t know, his lines are just so good. WHAT THE SHIT? marta was a great character in this film, i loved her. her thinking she accidentally murdered harlan the whole time, but the grand reveal that she didn’t.. AHHH i felt so bad for her throughout the movie, so the relief she got when she found out she was practically innocent was so good. she’s honestly a genius though, like when she fucked with the security footage. HER VOMIT LIE TRAIT is so random and funny, i think that was so good. when she threw up in ransom’s face i audibly gasped. she was just a great protagonist. detective blanc was also cool, just nowhere near as good as the other characters i liked. his constant donut comments confused me a lot, but him solving the case to save the day like a king ate so hard. a donut hole in a donut’s hole. i really did like this movie because it was just so cool to watch all of the details come together like a puzzle just waiting to be put together. murder mystery stories will always be my beloved, and i will watch them any time i get the chance. ALSO, yes it is possible to like both marta and ransom, i exist. some other things i enjoyed about this movie: the car chase, the final knife scene, the MUG, the confession, ransom (drools), and meg and marta. they’re gay, and i will die on that hill. i honestly don’t have a bad word about this movie, i loved it. knives out, you will always be famous. THIS IS STOOPID WITH TWO O’s.
