Arrival
When this movie clicks with you it is simultaneously heartbreaking and satisfying. Masterpiece, can’t believe I got to see this in theaters 9 or so years ago!
P.S. Being able to see both this and close encounters with the third kind in theaters as a kid really elevated my love for sci fi, cause these sort of “encounter” movies rather than opting for a typical action blockbuster based off aliens (when done right) truly are often a more engaging experience (and much more satisfying experience imo), not to say there aren’t amazing sci fi action/thrillers ofc (talking about alien obvi :)). TLDR: Alien movies that drift away from destruction and fear and touch more on the unknown are great :)
