Sinners
After a long consideration (and a third viewing ofc), i now know what makes Sinners so special.
**“Last time I see my brother, last time I seen the sun.”
— **Stack, Sinners (2025).
Sinners stepped into my life multiple times. it took me a while enough to understand what this movie is trying to bring. i don't really care about the quality or whatever, but what I care about is the messages it brings unto me.
I've seen it twice. but now, I've seen it thrice. Sinners is an amazing journey about music that can brings you into a world beyond life and death or somewhere in the lines between the two. The music somehow still a jam to my head. Especially the songs "Last Time (I Seen the Sun)" and "Pale, Pale Moon". But not just those two, but every one of them as well. this music combines every genre that black people used across generations; blues, folk, pop music and more. It's captivating and magically astounding.
What is more interesting about this movie is that it combines the traditional form of horror and period romantics into a wild spectacle filled with fellowship and love. The bond between the characters is a symbol of charity, prosperity, and comfort. No more and no less.
I actually have much to say about this film. This film is important and yet a life-changing moment for me. In my consideration, I think this film should win Best Picture. I think Sinners is more elevating than Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another. But both movies are good tho, and I will be so much happy if one of them takes home the award.
“Why Sinners should win Best Picture?” you ask. here's a video to let you know why 👇🏻 :
