Drive
One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Everything is just perfect, from the beginning to the end. I really liked that it's not filled with unnecessary dialogue, only what needs to be said is spoken. The long pauses between lines, often filled with nothing but a smile between characters, are what really make this movie so special and enjoyable. What makes it even more powerful is how these moments are never overused. The film lets silence and subtlety speak for themselves. The perfectly chosen music is just adding to this special feeling of relating.
Moreover, watching Ryan's character slowly come to life and open up is truly nice. At first, he's quiet and emotionally distant, but through his interactions with Irene and her son, there is another side of him coming to the surface: he's also protective and hopeful. With every smile he exchanges his stillness softens.
By the end, he chooses to not walk away with the money, but with the knowledge that his actions weren't driven by greed, but the love and meaning he found in his otherwise lonely existence.
