Parasite
Overall spoiler free review
This is a phenomenal film that highlights social boundaries and things that I think many people can learn from. Parasite is both dark and comedic but most importantly has an extremely strong and clear message. Definitely deserved Best Picture and I recommend to all that do not cry over reading subtitles.

Okay first things first, I hate posh cunt.
Parasite has an extremely interesting message. The film is very obvious while serving a message about class and social boundaries and how posh cunts are nothing more than cunts. I will now go over some of the obvious and symbolic details that I have noticed (the symbolic details may not be intentional by the director but obviously cinema is the greatest art of all time and all art is subjective)
The details that I considered obvious were:
Obvious details is scenes like the drinking scene where you see what were normal common people turn into pigs as soon as they get introduced an upper class environment. Even turning away the couple who was doing the exact same exploitations as they are doing.
Another obvious detail is how the bunker in the house being so hidden is to represents how the struggle of the lower class is hidden to the wealth. I found it quite notable that we are told the architect was ashamed and embarrassed by the bunker. To me this reflects the shame that his rich house has to have an element of poor. Once again as if the bunker and the house alone represents the two classes.
smell of Mr Kim representing how people of the lower class can never please the upper class even though they are doing everything that this family tells them to without hesitation.
When the rich family arrive home early it was extremely clear to see that they used physical height levels to show class. The poor were hidden under the table once again out of sight from the rich who lay on a comfortable sofa. One family had to hold their breath while the other got to sleep together and do a little more before hand. To me that shown struggle and carelessness.
The old man being described as a ghost showing how the poor are dehumanised even by children.
The rock. Now at first I saw the rock being another one of those things that rich people have and talk and brag as if it is essential to life when really it is all bullshit. Notice how it floated during the flood (which I will talk about later) look at how that fortune is what gave Kevin (I have no idea what his actual name was) the brain damage. The one thing that I did find interesting was that the only night where they did not sleep with that rock was the night where it all went wrong.
Details that I found to be more hidden (or probably unintended) were:
The living room window. The rich family looked out that window way more than they ever looked out a tv. To me this is because the tv will tell them about the harsh world around them whereas the window shows a perfect garden with no problems at all. I only noticed this because the poor family’s window is constantly a problem and ugly. Their window shows people pissing and disinfectant gas and all that shite on the street. Think of the window and house location as the families themselves. The rich family sit above the world where their window shows them see their own fake version of it whereas the poor family are deep into the world and have a terrible view of of the world from their window because they both see and live in the truth. The poor home is no different to the slums outside and the rich home is no different to the fantasies of their world.
Every time Mr Kim started to create a human connection with the rich father, he was told that he was pushing a line. That line shown that he was bringing a poor man’s humanity into a rich man’s delusion. This made the rich man uncomfortable and immediately shuts him down with things like reminding him that he is working or more importantly telling him to keep his eye on the road. That road line felt interesting as if he could see that a person who was about to have a genuine connection with him so he had to show class and dominance by not letting Mr Kim even look him in the eye.
The film’s title has a double meaning. Recently I have had a huge obsession with film titles and how they are important. For this one I came to realise that the parasite was the poor family and how they are a metaphorical parasite to the rich but around midway through I realised that the title actually means the rich parasited off of the poor by having them do their house work. I thought it was strange how we never actually see the poor families pay check and, while writing this, I have just realised that this is to show that no matter what job they are currently in they are still poor and the rich are not loosing anything by their little scheme.
My favourite detail in the film is the use the of stairs. I realised it instantly and I am extremely proud of myself for that. What I am saying is that the poor family, when escaping during the night, go DOWN soooooo many stairs to get home and this represents how low down they are compared to the rich family. Notice how the man lives in the basement which is also down loads of stairs. The further down you go, the uglier it gets.
The final detail that I noticed in the film was the impact of rain. When it rains for the rich family it is no more than parents telling their kid to come in whereas for the poor family, that same rain literally destroyed their entire home.
The philosophy of this film is a very interesting one. To me the philosophy is simply that money is evil. The rich family are described as nice people but every time they are seen in a negative light it is due to their wealth. The poor family are so desperate for money that when their daughter is literally scamming people like it is nothing they joke and are pleased about it. Having money makes you inhuman and not having money makes you do things just as inhuman. Film philosophy is something I am now going to start thinking about during my reviews as I believe that every film has some form of philosophy and message or meaning that can be taken out of it and can inspire people to think or behave in different ways whether that be good or bad I do not know.
The story is brilliant and I was loving the constant getting people fired. I was laughing my ass off. The story had me hooked the whole film and I was never once bored.
The cinematography was a masterpiece. My favourite part of the whole film was them running home down the stone stairs. I instantly connected with how it shown how rich and poor live inside of two different worlds. Their running shown how they still felt uncomfortable even after they had ran miles away making it seem like they were outsiders and had gone way too far from home as they were unwelcome being that high up in society.
This is a phenomenal film that I for one will never forget and I will forever remember as one of the greatest messages I have ever received from a film. I also love to talk about hating rich cunts so that was also a lot of fun for me. This is the most I have ever gotten to write for a review and I must say that this is the perfect film to be that review as it really is relevant to the world we live in and humanity as a whole.
